Summary: Thrust into leadership when his commanding officer is killed in battle, Jensen must offer the Akkadians' surrender to Corona, the rival planet his family used to rule. To make matters worse, his new Commander in Chief orders him to work with her son, someone he knew in a much simpler time. But the mission is critical: protecting the people of Akkad and Corona alike from an imminent sunstorm that threatens to finish what the war started.

Jared was raised to resent the Akkadians, having experienced their unfair rule for all of his life. It's been a long, hard struggle, but at last the Coronans are victorious. But as Jared learns more about what actually happened during the war, seeing with his own eyes what was done, he starts to question their victory. As he and Commander Ackles prepare for the deadly solar flares, Jared learns that the conflict he was proud to win was more complicated than he thought—and that for some people, the war isn't over yet.

My ramblings: Look, just go read this fic. Do you see where it's set? Do you see who it's by? Yeah, you don't need me to tell you to read this but I am anyway, because there's nothing even a little bit close to enough art here. *hangs head in shame* *shakes computer screen* SO MUCH WONDERFUL IMAGERY AND ... this is all I have to offer.

I don't know if I've ever had big bang art that did such an amazing job of capturing what the story's about. The colors, the two profiles facing away from each other, the two planets and the bigger threat looming behind them...this is so well done. It was so nice to work with you, and thanks for your patience with my super-slow writing.
