I have been invaded.

A few months back, I found a nest of these ferocious beasts in my backyard:

This is right after I gravely offended them with their first bath.
I had to save them from the evil raccoons and possums that roam the area from time to time, b/c I'd already found one headless kitten (from a previous litter) in my backyard and wasn't keen to deal with anymore of that trauma, thank you. So, then, came the wonderful discovery of just how much fun taking care of 7 kittens is. SPOILER: The answer is zero. It's zero fun and too much work. They're not cute enough to make up for it, I don't care what anyone says.

Okay, maybe they're a little cute enough.
Luckily, I was able to adopt 3 of them out pretty quickly, which left me with the 4 pictured above. Still too many, tho, considering my roommate already has 3 adult fat cats, one of which is a grumpy old-man kitty constantly growling at the others to get off his lawn. I've had friends and acquaintances going back and forth over whether or not they want one, and b/c I'd rather adopt them out myself to people I know than have to put them in a shelter, this means I've held onto them way longer than I should have. And now I'm attached. God. Damn. It.
And still no one is taking them away from me, like they should.
The older they get, the less I have to worry about what they're sticking in their mouths and whatnot, but still. So many cats. I swear I'm a dog person. YOU CAN'T PROVE I'M NOT.
Anyway, now I'm at the point where I'm like, "Okay, self, time to cut your losses and call the shelter." But this whole mess of cuteness is already so wildly out of control than I'm procrastinating. DX
So that's where I'm at on that, and a good chunk of the reason I've fallen behind on everything in life. It's hilarious claiming kittens as my reason for not meeting deadlines IRL, let me tell you. But fandom is more understanding, thankfully. *throws kitten at
deirdre_c* ;D
Speaking of failing at fandom, I'm kinda bummed I didn't finish a 2nd
spn_reversebang prompt. BUT. I decided to give myself a little bit of a break and look at the bright side, on which I've gotten a head start on my
spn_j2_xmas assignment. \o/ Not waiting until the last minute where I'm missing sleep and meals b/c I'm in a rush feels pretty awesome, actually. I think I might try it out more often.
And noooow, I'm off to ogle all the pretty art previews for RBB! \o/

Date: 2015-11-03 08:01 pm (UTC)I had something to ask you, btw: a friend of mine runs a blog for independent French authors, and she was interested in making a post about fanfic so she asked me a few questions about it - I kind of wanted to join to the "interview" one of the pieces you did when we worked together on rbb in 2012, but wouldn't do it without your permission. Is it okay with you? You can totally say no, it's not super important or anything. :)
