I am so excited for RBB this year! I have AN IDEA and I wanna share it now even though I haven't started and the end result probably won't be as awesome as it is in my head right now, but but but. I'm insanely, stupidly thrilled just to start working on it! *SQUEEEEALS* I LOVE THIS CHALLENGE IT IS THE BEST CHALLENGE.

Ahem.

I need a second prompt idea, tho. I'm determined to get 2 prompts in again because it's double the fun and I'm greedy. Suggestions? Any other artists out there have any exciting plans for this that they can be enthusiastically vague about? :D

The Parade of Perversion: Round Opens September 5th

I wish there were more low pressure anon-type challenges like this—it soothes my social anxiety/paranoia like nothing else. Very much looking forward to it. Last time I mostly watched and prompted a little, but I'm hoping I'll get to dive right in the middle of everything while RL is chilled out for a minute. If life gets in my way again, tho, the last round of ahhh-mazing fills and new-to-me authors I got to stalk was more than worth all my lurking, so I will, at the very least, definitely do as much of that as I can again.

I've never participated in this challenge and I really kinda want to but I'm also a little bit scared of exchanges? I usually stick to bangs because, idk, I'm less worried, I guess, with a whole draft's worth of details to work from, that I'll get everything totally wrong. I'm a neurotic freak of nature, I don't know what to tell you. /o\ I have started trying to fill out the sign-up form, though, so we'll see how that goes. Currently, I'm trying to stop myself from listing every trope I've ever heard of b/c I'm terrible at having favorites. And also thinking of prompts. And then erasing those in favor of new prompts. And stalling. IT'S A PROCESS.

Anyway, life has been busy but in a kinda boring way; I'm not gonna blah-blah-blah about it. I've been doing a couple fandom-y things here and there in the background, but haven't really had the time to keep up with what everyone else is doing, which is sad b/c everyone else's doings are the BEST part. Gonna do my best to catch up on the flist and Twitter happenings, but if you wanna help me lazier about it, that's cool too. ;P SPNJ2BB, for instance—if anyone has any recs just to give me a place to start, that'd be awesooome. Or, you know, any recent non-BB fanworks you've loved, other challenges that're going on and producing wonderful things, etc. Just tell me what you guys have been up to so I can love on it!

tl;dr It's the most fandomful time of the year.

Oh do the xmas one too, it's so nice to basically give someone a present! I'm trying to come up with some ideas for RBB right now - I know I thought about something a few weeks ago but of course now I've forgotten what it was. Dammit. Your prompts were ace last year, I really want to see what you have in mind for this one! Woot!

Oh and I nearly forgot - have you read ladyjanelly's Ben/Alec fic on AO3? I've just started reading it... Otherwise - I've done a couple of rec posts for spn_j2 BB and summergen - check my journal

I'm trying very hard to work up the nerve for the xmas one! I'm already halfway through my babbling on the sign-up form, so I'll probably do it.

Draw something with buildings! I'm still in love with that piece you did for DABB with Alec jumping rooftops. SO PERFECT. Or, um. I have the beginnings of lots of my own ideas but can't completely figure out where to go with them, so I can throw some of that at you via e-mail if you end up needing my brand of overhelpfulness at any point. :D

YES I HAVE READ THAT FIC SO MANY TIMES. That's, like, one of the fics that even got me into Alec/Ben in the first place! You should check of ukefied's DA stuff too, if you're getting super into it (as you should).

Buildings aren't something I draw often...too many straight lines and too much precision...

If you want to be over-helpful, feel free! My mind is a blank at the moment and I need a push if I'm going to get an early bird in.

And thanks for the rec,I'll check that out. I'm just rewatching DA at the moment because one of our free tv channels is showing it. Which is nuts as I have the DVDs and can watch anytime but never mind!

I was thinking about the Santa exchange too, and I found some prompts that I'm dying to write for, but I think I'll sign up as a pinch-hitter instead--on that one and on the RBB. I find pinch-hitting less stressful.

What do you find less stressful about it? I'm honestly interested, b/c for me, having less time would make me nuttier than I already tend to be about deadlines. XP

Hmm. . . Well, when I claim something, it feels somewhat selfish--I always feel that if I hadn't claimed a piece, the prompt would have been claimed by someone who would do a much better job. And then I have all that time to work on it, so when it's inevitably imperfect, I get stressed. BUT, in a pinch-hit situation, there is no other person; if I don't do it, it's possible that no one will (not quite true in the SPN fandom because of the size of the writer pool, but I can fool myself). Because it's short-notice, I don't worry about it as much because I already know there's no way for it to be as good as I want it to be, due to the time crunch. Plus it might be a prompt I wouldn't normally write for which makes it a challenge, and that's fun. Basically it gives me an excuse as to why it might be horrible, which strangely makes it easier to post. I noted the same during other time crunches, like masquerade, and j2_crack's Hallowe'en meme, and the rarepair fest. So I'd seriously stress myself out over something like a gift-exchange, but I should be fine coming in as a pinch-hitter.

Ah, okay! That ... actually makes total sense to me. I might actually be leaning more toward pinch-hitting now if I wasn't so slow that time is still the bigger issue. XD

Anyway, though I tend to think along relatively the same lines and totally understand, I wish you wouldn't doubt your awesomeness. Because you are awesome.

INDEED. I'm already working on something for masquerade, yay! Whether or not I finish it is another story. XP And I'm making myself submit my xmas sign-up before I go to bed tonight, no more excuses!
